The Termination of Your Relationship May Be the Answer

We all have been taught to fight to save the love we have. So most of us take on that battle with all the ambition, passion, and motivation that we can find to salvage the relationship that we're in. Even though the mightiest effort has been made some relationships don't survive even with all the effort. They remain unhealthy, negative, and harmful situations to be in. Sometimes ending your relationship may be the answer to your happiness.

How do you know if you should end it?

  • There is constant and continual arguing back and forth
  • Neither party can compromise
  • The disrespect continues to get worse
  • You have become indifferent towards your mate
  • You are increasingly getting more depressed
  • You don't see the point in being with this person
  • You're stressed out
  • You're suffering physical symptoms (headaches, stomaches)
  • You've fallen out of love with this person
  • You'd rather be with someone else
  • You'd rather be single
  • You know you'd be happier without them

When you and your partner just can't seem to make the relationship work sometimes the best thing to do is to let it go. Holding on to a relationship that isn't working isn't a healthy situation for anyone to stay in. Hanging on to someone who isn't or doesn't love you anymore is a clear, cut path to absolute misery. When you're constantly suffering because of your relationship this is a good indicator that you may need to end your partnership.

Why do people want to hang on to bad relationships?

  • Don't want to end it because of the length of time they've been in the relationship
  • Don't want to be alone
  • Don't want to start over
  • Feelings of guilt for wanting to end it
  • Wants the other person to initiate the end of the relationship
  • Confused about what to do
  • Confused about how to do it
  • Afraid to end it
  • Settled for something is better than nothing
  • Too dependent on the other person to let go
  • Self-esteem is too low

The best tell-tale sign for knowing if you should end your relationship is when the other person refuses to make it better. When your partner won't take any action to help the relationship to function better this is a dead give away that they don't want it to work. In order for a partnership to survive both people have to give their one hundred percent to the union. If neither are doing this the relationship will end anyway. Relationships are supposed to be positive extensions of who you are as a human being not mirrors that only reflect your flaws. If your relationship is the most negative thing you have going on in your life then it's time to look for a better one.
